Sustainability Commitment
At Ayers Rock Resort responsible tourism is at the core of what we do, we work hard to maintain respectful relationships with Anangu and their land. We operate within a unique desert landscape where Indigenous language and cultural practice is strong. A visit to Uluru is an opportunity to visit a natural and cultural wonder and we take great care to ensure we conserve that richness for generations to come. Our Tjintu Solar Field provides up to 45% of the Resort’s average energy needs. Our minimisation program helps the Resort recycle and reduce material waste where possible to minimise rubbish sent to landfill. We are proud to work with the Traditional Owners to establish the longest running wildlife and threatened species monitoring program in the region. We’re passionate about engaging with the local Indigenous community and have several programs to support Indigenous education, health, employment and tourism initiatives. Wintjiri Wiru, our ground-breaking drone, laser and light show that tells a chapter of the ancestral Mala story, has been created in partnership with senior Anangu from Kaltukatjara and Mutitjulu and this consultative approach with Traditional Owners sets the standard for all new products and initiatives. We’re constantly improving our sustainable tourism policies throughout the Resort to ensure we keep our Country beautiful and preserve its stories for generations to come.
