Sustainability Commitment

Billabong Sanctuary, in 2019, was inducted into the Hall of Fame as an Advanced Ecotourism attraction. One of the first 25 tourism operators to be recognised Australia wide. Billabong Sanctuary is a standout operator with a commitment to conservation and quality tourism experiences. The Sanctuary gives great importance to recycling and providing browse to the koalas through their own Eucalyptus tree plantation grown at nearby Townsville Correctional Centre farm. All uneaten browse is recycled in aviaries.

Billabong Sanctuary offers Australia’s best interactive wildlife experience! We guarantee each visitor a unique experience based on personal interaction with koalas, wombats, dingoes, birds, reptiles and more! You will leave with happy memories and great photos, and the inspiration to engage in conservation issues affecting your own community.
