Tours & Experiences
Snorkeling and Diving –
Few destinations on the Great Barrier Reef offer such an exquisite diving and snorkeling experience, due to Orpheus’ unique nature and personalised approach. Imagine exploring an awe-inspiring underwater world teeming with fish in an incredible array of colours while turtles swim past, seemingly undisturbed by your presence. The fringing reef surrounding Orpheus and the neighbouring islands is home to some of the regions most diverse and unspoilt marine wonderlands. Orpheus’ local dive sites are home to 1,100 of the 1,500 species of fish on the reef, 340 of the 359 varieties of hard corals and some of the region’s largest collections of soft corals.
Self-drive Dinghy Experience –
Guests staying at Orpheus Island can also take the helm of their very own motorised dinghy and discover the many pristine bays and reefs that fringe Orpheus. Guests can beach comb and enjoy a chef-prepared gourmet picnic hamper in absolute seclusion.
Orpheus Island Research Station –
Guests can be taken on an educational tour of the Orpheus Island Research Station and its facilities, including the wet and dry laboratories and the live reef touch tanks. During specific times of the year, guests have the opportunity to meet internationally renowned marine scientists conducting integral research on climate change, sea level rise and the health of the local eco systems.

Orpheus Island Lodge
Each of the 14 rooms and suites at Orpheus Island has direct access to a ribbon of serene beach whilst the island is fringed by pristine coral reefs, creating a haven for snorkeling and diving. Fishing expeditions, private cruises and dinghy adventures are also on offer. The lodge it-self epitomises laid-back luxury and features a main pavilion bar and alfresco-style dining area, a restaurant, a reading room, Gwandalan Day Spa and an inviting infinity pool.
Orpheus is an all-inclusive Island Resort so gourmet meals, accommodation and Australian wine and beer are included as part of any package. There are endless experiences for nature lovers.
At Orpheus we continue to encourage a harmonious relationship with our surroundings through the eradication of harmful flora and fauna and replanting of lost species of flora, the introduction of happy chickens that lay fresh eggs for chef use, solar hot water servicing all guest accommodation, a state-of-the-art waste water treatment plant that allows 100% of the water to be recycled and used for irrigation and watering and a sustainable veggie patch and fruit trees which provide our chefs with a constant supply of fresh produce for guest meals.
