Daydream Island Resort and Living Reef

Protected by the Great Barrier Reef, Daydream Island’s warm, gentle waters offer a paradise for couples, families, boaters and sunseekers. Have your choice of an array of activities across the island, from sparkling swimming pools and coral beaches to rainforest treks and snorkelling the resort’s very own Living Reef teeming with over 100 species of sea creatures. Whether you’ve come to do it all or nothing more than lounge on the beach, each day will come to a brilliant close as the sunset paints the sky and waters off Lovers Cove in an orchestra of colours.

Daydream Island is renowned for its Living Reef, a free-form coral lagoon wrapping 200 metres around the resort, offering guests a unique opportunity to learn about marine life through guided educational experiences and hands-on encounters.

Through sustainable operations, eco-conscious initiatives, and partnerships that promote reef conservation, Daydream Island continues to inspire guests to connect with nature and protect one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders.

Sustainability Commitment

Daydream Island is committed to protecting the Great Barrier Reef and the natural beauty of the Whitsundays through sustainable tourism. We focus on reducing our environmental footprint, supporting conservation, and respecting the cultural heritage of the Traditional Owners of the land. Our Living Reef is at the centre of our sustainability efforts, supporting coral restoration and reef rehabilitation projects led by our on-island marine biologists. These initiatives help restore damaged reef areas, promote marine biodiversity, and educate guests about reef protection and ocean health. Across the resort, we work to minimise waste, reduce single-use plastics, and conserve energy and water through efficient systems and recycling programs. We also prioritise local suppliers and community partnerships to support the Whitsundays region. Through these ongoing efforts, Daydream Island aims to protect the reef, care for the environment, and inspire guests to travel responsibly and sustainably.
