Fitzroy Island Adventures takes guests to the spectacular Fitzroy island, which is easily accessible from Cairns and features an array of beautiful natural features – such as an immense range of marine life and coral species – that make visiting a dream. Unlike smaller coral cays or sandy islands on the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy was once part of mainland Australia. The island is largely untouched and protected as Fitzroy Island National Park. We have established ourselves as a world leader in Nature based Adventure Tourism, through our dedication to quality and safety on our tours which operate within World Heritage Areas. Fitzroy Island provides a nature based playground for both locals and visitors to Cairns and we endeavor to provide enjoyable interpretive activities to suit all swimming levels. We offer ferry transportation to the island and a range of activities within the surrounding Marine Park, which enables our passengers to explore the reef of Fitzroy Island while giving them the option to do as much or as little as they wish.

Groups and Charter Tours

Caters mainly for educational tourism and corporate groups and the charter/group tours include ferry transfers, an interpretive guided island walk and use of snorkeling equipment.

Fitzroy Island Activities

Take advantage of the best Fitzroy Island has to offer with the glass bottom boat tour and/or snorkel gear all in the one package plus guests also have use of the other beach hire equipment including the paddle skis and ocean trampoline. Snorkeling in Welcome Bay and Nudey Beach offers the chance to explore a fringing reef which supports many species of fish and invertebrates.

Fitzroy Island Ferry Transfers

Beautiful unspoiled, uncrowded, beaches perfect for snorkeling on the calm waters of Welcome Bay or from the soft sands of Nudey Beach. Our fast catamaran vessel MV ‘Millennium Spirit’ travels daily to the island with a 50 minute travel time. En route to the island our skipper briefs guests on the island’s key features and a reef slideshow is delivered, with on board interpretive library facilities also available
