Wildlife Photography 2 Days

The Wet Tropics World Heritage area offers a sublime mixture of landscapes, including waterfalls, mountain ranges, idyllic streams, deep gorges and dense rainforest. Due to the diverse habitats, it provides abundant opportunities to photograph flowering plants, butterflies, insects, frogs, reptiles, marsupials and a significant proportion of Australia’s glorious songbirds. Join our Expert Nature Photography Guide, Kelvin Marshall in showcasing this region’s extraordinary biodiversity.

Cairns Hiking Experience

Beautiful Lamb Range is an hour drive West of Cairns and towers high above the Dinden National Park surrounds. The track consists of open woodland, giant gum trees, savanna habitat and beautiful iconic Xanthorrhoea grass trees. As we gain height, we’ll notice abrupt granite boulders coursing the summit area, providing spectacular scenery. Hike is classed as ‘Difficult’ not recommended for Children under 14.

Daintree Exclusive (Southbound)

A perfect tour for nature lovers. Explore the Daintree River on a quiet, clean solar electric vessel capable of getting much closer without scaring off the wildlife. Tropical themed two course lunch with exotic fruit presentation. Afterwards at Mossman Gorge, your guide will interpret the intricate rainforest story on an immersive trail through incredible green wilderness.

5 Day Wildlife Photography Safari 5-days / 4-nights

Visiting; Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation, Julatten, Shared Earth Reserve, Atherton Tablelands, Crater Lakes National Park. This Wildlife Photography Safari comprises the most successful interactive locations for viewing and photographing the regions unique and endangered wildlife. The Daintree and Tablelands boasts spectacular landscapes to observe reptiles, amphibians, monotremes and butterflies, including the Platypus, Saltwater Crocodile, Boyd’s Forest Dragon, White-lipped Tree Frog, Green-eyed Tree Frog, Snapping Turtle, Leaf-tailed Gecko and electric blue Ulysses butterfly. This is the area where the world’s songbirds emerged, currently home to forty percent of Australia’s bird species including bowerbirds, kingfishers, riflebirds, fruit doves and the endangered Southern Cassowary. Boasting the highest diversity of rainforest mammals in Australia, the Bennett’s and Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo, Spectacled Flying-fox, Daintree River Ringtail Possum, Northern Long-nosed Bandicoot are popular sightings.

Tropical Wetlands Birdwatching Exclusive

The early bird gets the worm! Starting at 6:30am, we spend the morning exploring the Tropical Wetlands and Shared Earth Reserve, which is home to over 220 recorded bird species, this site is exclusive to FNQ Nature Tours guests only. First stop is a walking tour of Clancy’s Lagoon. Followed by a short break for morning tea, preparing us for a 4WD adventure and walking tour of Pandanus Lagoon. Guests then enjoy a picnic style lunch under a shady billabong during the heat of the day. In the afternoon we venture into the nearby Atherton Tablelands and other locations such as Lake Barrine and Yungaburra to further our bird watching prospects. These locations have afforded our customers amazing birdlife encounters and opportunities for photographs over the years.

Citizen Science Quoll 1 or 2 Days

Become a citizen scientist for a day! Many iconic and captivating animal species including rare and endemic creatures call the rainforests of the Wet Tropics home. This includes Marsupials, reptiles, invertebrates, over 320 species of birds and much more. We are offering an exclusive opportunity to work alongside industry experts and assist in conducting valuable research that will aid in the preservation of Far North Queensland’s endangered wildlife! This behind-the-scenes tour provides a unique opportunity to enter research locations not accessible to the public to observe the endangered Spotted-tailed Quoll. Alberto Vale and Justin McMahon are our expert research guides and they have been carefully studying these fascinating and mysterious creatures for several years. Join them in the rainforest and take part in their research projects

4 Day Nature, Wildlife and Conservation Safari 4-days / 3-nights

On this tour guests will not only experience four days exploring the natural beauty of Far North Queensland; they will also be offered unique and exclusive opportunities to be part of citizen science data collection, wildlife rescue and wildlife rehabilitation. A major highlight of this tour for guests is meeting the unsung heroes of the nature and wildlife conservation community who have dedicated their lives to protecting the animals that call FNQ home. Featuring FNQ Conservation Groups: Australian Quoll Conservancy,Tolga Bat Hospital, Wildlife and Raptor Care Queensland and The Tree Kangaroo Rescue Centre and exclusive access to the Forever Wild Tropical Wetlands Shared Earth Reserve.

Tablelands Exclusive

A short one-hour drive from Cairns and we’re exploring an extinct volcanic crater filled with rainwater and surrounded by rainforest and wildlife! Find a Wild Platypus and witness the truly magical ‘Avatar tree’. After morning tea, a cruise and beautiful rainforest trail we’re off to find a Platypus and sometimes Tree Kangaroo in nearby town of Yungaburra.

Daintree Afternoon

A unique opportunity to explore the Daintree Rainforest at night. This amplifies the quality of our nature and wildlife interactions.
