Sustainability Commitment

Island Expeditions implement sustainable tourism practices, such as minimising waste, collecting waste with our "Pick for a Pint" initiative, removing all of waste from the island, conserving water and maintaining the vehicles to a high level in order to reduce carbon emissions. Guests' cans and bottles are all collected, with the 10c refunds being donated to the Fraser Island Defenders Organisation. They actively contribute to the preservation of Fraser Island's delicate ecosystems through educational initiatives and participation in conservation projects. Earlier this year, K'gari Tours installed a bore at the campsite they rent from the Butchullla people. This gives a source of fresh water not only to the tours, but also to the Butchulla people.
