Seair / Lady Elliot Island day trip
The Lady Elliot Island Great Barrier Reef day trip is the only one of its type in Australia. The visit allows you to view one of the most pristine sections of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef from the air as well as from above and below the water all in one day.
The day visit begins from the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sunshine Coast with a early pickup from your hotel. We take to the air with Seair for a scenic coastal flight to Lady Elliot Island, a true coral cay on the southern Great Barrier Reef, overflying Fraser Island.
Flights depart Hervey Bay and Bundaberg at approx 8:10am. Once on the island you can take a guided tour on one of our glass bottom boats, snorkel amongst the most amazing coral formations and marine creatures, hand feed fish in the lagoon or take a guided reef walk with one of our knowledgeable guides.
Come face to face with turtles, colourful coral and schools of reef fish. The coral gardens surrounding the island are also a breeding and feeding area for the giant kites of the reef – manta rays. Many of our past guests have been fortunate to swim with these amazing creatures. Hosted by our trained guides throughout the day, you will experience the best the reef has to offer before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch.
Our day visit departs from Lady Elliot for the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sunshine Coast at 2.15pm, arriving back at your hotel at approximately 5pm. Day visit returns from Lady Elliot to Hervey Bay and Bundaberg at 4pm.
Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort
Eco Lodge of Australia
Out on the frontier of the Great Barrier Reef exists a coral cay island ‘Lady Elliot’ where the coral reef is alive and teaming with life, where hands-on adventure and exploration are keys to this Australian holiday experience in a declared ‘Marine National Park Zone’. It’s a special wild kind of a place where people come from all over the world and yet fit together, blend together within minutes of meeting each other through a common need. That need is to be closer to nature and experience the environment and it’s creatures.
If you long for an experience where you can get away from pretentious ‘name-branded Resorts with little substance’ and really interact with the tidal zone and the underwater water world of the Great Barrier Reef on your own terms then Lady Elliot Island is your nirvana. As the island is a declared ‘Marine National Park Zone’ ( sitting at Level 6 of a 7 tier protection class on the Barrier Reef, where level 1 is ‘General Use Zone’ and level 7 is no public Access) this is one of the few islands where you will see live coral, abundant bird life and abundant marine life at every level.
In order to operate on a sustainable basis without impacting the National Park, the Eco Resort employs a number of measures to protect the environment of the island and surrounds, in conjunction with the Great Barrier Reef Marina Park Authority (GBRMPA). These combined measures include the PROHIBITION of the following activities : Aquaculture, bait netting, crabbing, harvesting aquarium fish, coral and beach worms, harvesting sea cucumbers, trochus and tropical rock lobster, spear fishing, line fishing, netting by commercial boats and trawling. In addition the resort employs the following eco aware technology : – Low emission clean burning diesel generators providing 240v power, low power light bulbs, solar hot water heating, a closed-circuit anaerobic sewerage waste management system, the collection and use of rainwater, the desalination of pure seawater in fresh water for drinking and guest use and the removal of waste from the island by boat.
