Founded by passionate river advocate and environmental scientist Tony Sharley, Murray River Trails has achieved Advanced Ecotourism Certification from Ecotourism Australia and won National Ecotourism Awards. Sustainability has been ingrained in everything they do since its conception in 2016, and in 2026, they launched their first environmentally regenerative project, the Murray River Trails Fund, which has given inspired guests another way to give back to this Australian Icon.

Murray River Escapes- Houseboat Hire
The eco-luxe houseboat High River can be booked for a private group hire for 3-14 nights with optional extras including, guided activities from walks to kayaking to birdwatching, presentations on ecology and e-watering, wine tastings, brewery tours and catered dinners.
Murray River Walk
The 4-day 3-night Walk gives guests the opportunity to walk unmarked trails with expert guides through a range of landscapes from old-growth redgum forests, mallee woodlands, sandstone cliffs, ancient billabongs, to floodplains in the 10km wide stretch of river valley. It’s an easy walk with 10-15km walking per day and 10-20km of river cruising between trailheads. The eco-luxe houseboat accommodation travels upstream to the daily destination, giving guests the experience of a through hike and the comfort of an unpack once holiday.

Murray River Safari
The 4-day 3-night Safari is an expedition cruise-style journey along a 70km stretch of river within the internationally significant Riverland Ramsar Wetlands. Each morning and late afternoon, your expert guides will take you on an excursion beyond the banks of the river channel to explore the forests, backwaters, floodplains, and ephemeral lakes of this living landscape.
