Ocean Safari
Ocean Safari offers an exhilarating ride to snorkel the pristine untouched outer Great Barrier Reef off the Daintree Coast at Cape Tribulation. The half day Great Barrier Reef tour visits two different snorkel destinations, each with an extraordinary array of marine life and coral species. After a fast 25-minute ride, you are ready to snorkel fabulous locations at Mackay Reef and Sand Cay. Choose from two tour times – Morning or Afternoon departures. On most days, you can snorkel alongside sea turtles, which are found in abundance, swimming over reefs full of colourful coral, along with myriads of tropical fish, eagle rays, giant clams and starfish. Often, the coastal rainforest of the Daintree can be seen along the mainland beach whilst snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, two world heritage areas side by side. The Great Barrier Reef tour begins at Cape Tribulation beach where you board the vessel bound for the tropical waters. The Ocean Safari vessel takes a maximum of 25 passengers allowing guests to experience tropical paradise and the pleasure of a small group. The vessel is based on the original design of a rescue craft and is a rigid inflatable boat driven by 700hp engines. The Ocean Safari check-in office is also home to the Turtle Rock Café and Safari Lodge. Situated just 400 metres from the beach, Safari Lodge offers cabins and camp sites in the tropical Cape Tribulation rainforest and is the perfect base for exploring this famous region. The Turtle Rock Café offers freshly cooked wholesome meals, great coffee and tropical outdoor dining in a casual, friendly atmosphere.

Sustainability Commitment
Ocean Safari’s long-term commitment to ecotourism, environmental sustainability, protection, research and education is reflected through holding Advanced Ecotourism Australia Accreditation for over ten years as Green Travel Leader. The culture at Ocean Safari is aligned to strong values that are reflective of a family business committed to best practice standards and performance, ensuring long term stewardship and positive environmental initiatives for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Given our remote location and the fact that Cape Tribulation is “off the grid” in terms of power and water supply, our team are highly attuned when it comes to considering our environment impacts. As a Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) High Standard Tourism Operator, our environmental activities include working with GBRMPA through the Reef Protection Initiative, our Reef Seeker program, our contribution to the Eye on The Reef (EOTR) program and our team of Master Reef Guides and Eco Hosts, who are trained in EOTR monitoring methods to provide guests with the highest levels of reef knowledge. At Ocean Safari, environmental and educational tourism is an essential part of our operation. We ensure our experience is fun, educational, ethical, and ecologically sustainable. Our team visit the reef daily, engaging in stewardship actions that promote reef health, then share their insights with guests. We continue to lead in the environmental edutourism space with our citizen science program, ‘Reef Seeker’, offering interpretive and hands-on activities, personalised guided snorkelling tours and interactive question and answer sessions.
