Wineglass and Wildlife

Home to Tasmania’s most iconic white sands beach – Wineglass Bay, the aerial view is something truly spectacular and an unforgettable experience.

Leaving the peninsula, we fly over the seal colony of Ile Des Phoques and continue towards our destination Maria Island, where we’ll land and set off on an exploration of the island national park. We take in the natural beauty and tranquillity of Maria Island, with its rare wildlife, crystal clear waters and the impressive scenery of Mt Maria and Bishop and Clerk peaks.

Wander through the forests of great blue and white gum trees, some over 400 years old and unique to the area. Famous for its abundance of wildlife, Maria Island is home to rare and endangered species like the swift parrot and Cape Barron goose, wombats, kangaroos and of course, the Tasmanian Devil. We enjoy an hour and a half exploring the island including a sumptuous lunch with local Tasmanian seafood and wine, before returning home by air to Hobart.

Gordon Wild Rivers Explorer

We board the award-winning Gordon River Cruises and journey through the famous waterway of the Gordon River, part of Tasmania’s UNESCO Wilderness World Heritage Area. We travel through ‘Hell’s Gates’ at the mouth of the Macquarie Harbour before looking at local salmon and trout farms. The atrium seating onboard allows you to experience the historical and picturesque journey in absolute comfort.

Your Gordon River Cruise vessel then stops at ‘Heritage Landing’ where we explore the pristine rainforest, surrounded by ancient Huon Pines and breath in the cleanest air in the world. In this area of the forest, some of the trees are over 2000 years old!

As we cruise to our second stop of the day, we enjoy a delicious chef-prepared lunch before taking a guided tour of Sarah Island, hearing the stories of the former penal colony which is now one of Tasmania’s most unique and fascinating historical sites.

We arrive back in Strahan with plenty of time to peruse the local gift shop and take a stroll around the beautiful township before returning by air to Cambridge Airport.

Southwest Wilderness Experience

Experience the grandeur and spirit of the Tasmanian wilderness in its purest sense with our Southwest Wilderness Experience. This new eight-hour tour explores the remote and harsh southern coasts and waterways of this rugged and beautiful region of Tasmania.

Departing from Hobart, we pass the Derwent River, Bruny Island and follow the stunning coastline through the Southwest National Park, to the South East Cape, the most southern point of Australia.

Landing at Melaleuca Airport, we take to the water and explore the pristine waterways of The Port Davey Marine Reserve taking in Waterfall Bay and the Breaksea Islands.

Southwest Wilderness Camp

Spend three adventure-packed days exploring the remote Southwest wilderness of Tasmania, staying at our private camp and enjoying delicious meals prepared from local produce and tasting the best wines that the region has to offer.

At over 4500sq km, the Bathurst Harbour Marine Reserve is three times the size of Sydney Harbour and is the ultimate destination for nature lovers with opportunities to see the rare and endangered Orange Bellied Parrots, visit Aboriginal middens and caves and explore the remote waterways via your private boat.

Explore the magnificent Huon Pine forest on the Old River and the untouched Celery Top Islands. During our stay, we can take a walk on untouched beaches, see wildlife or even climb a mountain. All trails are graded easy to moderate.
