Pearls of Australia - Broken Bay Pearl Farm
Broken Bay Pearl Farm is NSW’s only pearl farm, growing the world’s highest quality pearls from the Akoya pearl shell. Located on the Hawkesbury River near Mooney Mooney, just one hour north of Sydney, the operating headquarters is known as the Broken Bay Pearl Farm Shellar Door and is open to the public to browse our jewellery and pearls or join one of our immersive tours on land and water.
This is an opportunity to meet the people behind the pearls and to experience the story of NSWs locally grown pearls. On water, explore the incredible marine wilderness of the Hawkesbury River and Central Coast, and discover the intricacies of pearl farming. Back on land, learn of the seven virtues that underpin the value of our farm-direct Australian pearls, or enjoy a guided oyster tasting and a shucking demonstration, savouring the unique flavours of our local oysters, and supporting local farmers.

Sustainability Commitment
At Pearls of Australia, sustainability is at the heart of every aspect of how we farm pearls and welcome visitors to our two working pearl farms in Western Australia and New South Wales. As a family-owned business operating in some of Australia’s most pristine marine environments, we are committed to caring for the ecosystems and communities that support our farms. Our pearling practices work in harmony with nature, supporting healthy oyster populations and biodiverse marine habitats. We invest in low-impact infrastructure, renewable energy and responsible water management, and we ensure every part of the oyster is responsibly used. We also recognise and respect the deep cultural connections to sea country, working alongside Traditional Owners to share knowledge, stories and a sense of place. Through conservation, community engagement and long-term stewardship, we aim to protect these environments and leave a positive legacy for future generations.
