Reef Magic departs directly from Cairns on a fast, stable catamaran, making its way to our new Reef Magic pontoon. Catering for all kinds of visitors, our pontoon provides snorkelling, scuba diving, helmet diving, GBR Biology Science lab and more. For those who just want to stay dry, there’s our underwater viewing deck or glass bottom boat options. If simply relaxing & soaking up the tropical warmth is more your style then take time out on our spacious sundeck. GBR Biology Reef Education
With GBR Biology’s expertise and resources, we are now offering specialized education and research field trips. We can tailor an unforgettable experience that will align with the Australian curriculum and allow students to participate in ongoing field research projects. GBR Biology creates education pathways to garner greater connections and awareness of local communities, highlighting the social, cultural, environmental and economic capital to local reef systems. This includes education and research opportunities for students to experience our local reefs and contribute to ongoing research projects.
Whale Watching Tours Cairns
There are few more engaging experiences in nature than witnessing the spectacular surface behaviours of majestic Humpback Whales. Activity in Cairns peaks between mid July and the end of August. Led by our qualified Marine Biologist, this informative full or half day tour, with free time at Fitzroy Island, provides captivating insights into whale anatomy, communication, diet, migratory patterns and population status.
Reef Magic
The all-weather Reef Magic Pontoon is the newest and most technologically advanced pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef, and is designed and built for a sustainable future. At over 1003sqm, with a capacity of 450 guests, with numbers kept to a maximum of 250, our guests can escape the crowd and enjoy the reef. With loads of activities for all ages, you can snorkel in the sheltered coral lagoon, join our Marine Biologists on a Guided Snorkel Safari, try Scuba Diving or even Sea Trek Helmet Diving.
Dreamtime Snorkel
Step back into the Great Barrier Reef’s Dreamtime with Indigenous sea rangers on a day tour to two spectacular outer Great Barrier Reef sites. Dreamtime Snorkel is a unique reef educational Great Barrier Reef experience incorporating the world’s oldest living culture and the stories Traditional Owners have passed down over tens of thousands of years.
Reef Magic Charters
Perfect for conference and incentive groups, Reef Magic can tailor the most suitable itinerary for your private charter. Options could include Reef/Island/Pontoon itineraries. We have activities to suit everybody and include the full range of options available on our normal Reef Magic Day Cruise. These include snorkeling with guided tours, scuba diving including certified and introductory dives, semi-submersible tours, underwater observatory and scenic helicopter flights.
