Sustainability Commitment
At Sea Darwin - Sea Tiwi, we are committed to sustainable and responsible tourism, ensuring our tours conserve the Top End’s marine and cultural environments. Our vessels use efficient, state of the art engines to minimise emissions, and onboard sewerage systems meet international standards. We prioritise waste reduction by using biodegradable packaging and eliminating disposable containers on Turtle Tours. We actively protect wildlife habitats by using temporary mooring facilities to safeguard reefs and implementing strict turtle-watching protocols aligned with national guidelines. Five percent of every Turtle Tour ticket supports Austurtle’s conservation efforts, and all verified marine mammal sightings are recorded for scientific research. We conduct routine marine debris clean-ups, contributing data to the Australian Marine Debris Database. We honour Traditional Owners by operating on Traditional land with permission from the Tiwi and Kenbi people, incorporating Indigenous knowledge into our experiences, and respecting cultural protocols. As a Climate Action Business, we continuously assess and reduce our carbon footprint, supporting local offset initiatives. Through education, conservation, and responsible tourism, we strive to protect the Northern Territory’s marine and coastal ecosystems while offering meaningful, eco-conscious experiences for our guests.
