Somewhere Unique

In around 2 hours from the Sydney CBD, travelling via the Great North Road – a historic and scenic route – you will reach the picturesque Wollombi Valley, gateway to Hunter Valley Wine Country.

Located on a 20-acre bushland property in the Wollombi Valley, Somewhere Unique combines a tranquil setting with luxurious, romantic couples-only accommodation, superb comfort and attention to detail.

The architect-designed retreats are contemporary in style, and have interiors that take their inspiration from the pristine country setting and have been created with the natural environment in mind. Both retreats have been strategically placed to ensure privacy for each couple, and thoughtfully designed to create a harmonious, luxurious and romantic ambience.

Somewhere Unique was opened in March 2008, and offers a choice of two unique one-bedroom fully self-contained retreats, each with their own individual personality. The retreats have been rated 4.5 star by AAA Tourism, and have also been Green Star accredited. Each retreat is designed for one couple, and comes complete with: king-sized bed, spacious two-person bath, fluffy towels and bathrobes, candles and luxury toiletries, sound system and iPod dock, LCD TV and DVD player, reverse cycle air-conditioning, ceiling fans, well equipped kitchen, mini-bar facilities, bushland and valley views from your own private deck, outdoor eating area and BBQ, phone and broadband internet access, and the complimentary use of bicycles.

In-house massage can be organised, along with BBQ dinner hampers, wine tour pickups and helicopter restaurant transfers and scenic flights.

Sustainability Commitment

In the design and construction of the 'Somewhere Unique' retreats, eco-principles were referenced and incorporated into every facet: - The retreats have been designed using passive solar architecture principles, to make the best use of the suns energy - Large north facing windows that let in the low winter sun, and roof overhangs that keep out the high summer sun • A large proportion of the building materials are steel, which is one of the world’s most recycled products - Low-E glass used to reflect the long wave heat radiation back into the rooms during Winter, and reflect the heat back outside during Summer - Bamboo timber flooring – sustainably sourced, fast growing, rapidly renewable, low manufacturing waste - Timber furniture built using ecoSelect hardwood
