Sustainability Commitment
Sunlover works closely with The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) in a number of ways: Eye on the Reef - We monitor our Moore and Arlington Reef sites for trends of change to the environment. We also show guests how to complete the Eye on the Reef Rapid Monitoring Survey through our Marine Biologist for a Day experience, which directly contributes to the collection of information about reef health. Crown of Thorn Starfish - We applied and received a permit in 2013 at the outset of the eradication program to allow us to actively participate in the suppression of the starfish, which pose a threat to the reef. Master Reef Guides Program - Developed to educate guests about the reef environment, we are committed to providing ongoing support to our expert crew in achieving this status. Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre - A voluntary non-profit organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation of turtles. Sunlover assisted in the set up of the centre through donations, and continue to contribute through fundraising, transport of volunteers, and assisting with turtle releases from our Moore Reef Maine Base. Reef Restoration Foundation - Sunlover is an early adopter of the initiative, which establishes ocean-based coral nurseries.
