Werribee Open Range Zoo, immerses visitors in an array of grasslands animals living on 225 hectares of wide, open savannah. Head out on safari across grassy plains where you’ll find rhinos, giraffes, zebras and antelopes grazing together on the savannah. See lions, cheetah and hippos on our Kubu River Trail.

Slumber Safari
This multi-award-winning accommodation experience allows you to get close to the action of Africa and makes an ideal getaway with your partner, friends or colleagues. Enjoy a rare opportunity to camp overnight with the animals in the comfort of luxurious safari tents. This is truly an unforgettable ‘Out-of-Africa’ experience.
A fully hosted experience which includes up-close animal encounters, a sumptuous African barbecue feast and an evening of fun around the campfire. Sleep in the luxurious canvas safari tents and awake to watch the savannah come to life while enjoying a delicious cooked breakfast.
Slumber Safaris begin at 3.00pm, but you’re invited to arrive at Werribee Open Range Zoo earlier in the day. Experience the Zoo’s newest developments, Kubu River Hippos and Lions on the Edge, before you head to the campsite to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the African savannah.

On the Pula Reserve Walking Trail, come face-to-face with a pride of lions, see cheeky monkeys and cheetahs at play and discover a family of hippos at the new Kubu River Hippos experience.
No trip to the Zoo is complete without heading out on safari across grassy plains where you’ll find rhinos, giraffes, zebras and antelopes grazing together on the savannah.
All of the above, including the 45-minute safari tour, is included in the Zoo admission price so take a walk on the wild side.
