Willis's Walkabouts

Our clients carry full packs, off-track, into the wilderness, going to places where no 4WD will ever go. We camp next to beautiful pools we share with no one else. There is always time for swimming, bird watching and photography as we visit Aboriginal art sites, gorges and waterfalls that no other tour operator can take you to.

Sustainability Commitment

What could be more environmentally friendly than using your own two feet? While we need motorised transport to get to the start of our walks, once there, it’s as environmentally friendly as it’s possible to be. We don’t walk on defined tracks or camp in defined campgrounds. Our trips take place in as nearly pristine an environment as can be found in Australia. We do our best to ensure that no trace remains of our passing. By using different campsites and routes, we minimise our impact on any one area. On most routes, we use firewood rather than stoves as it is an abundant, renewable resource which would probably be burnt in a seasonal fire if we didn’t use it. Fires are kept small, both for the ease of cooking and to help conserve the resource. On many trips, we incorporate cultural experiences run by the local Aboriginal traditional owners to give our clients a greater appreciation of the people and culture who sustainably managed the land for thousands of years. We donate to a variety of environmental organisations and encourage our clients to join and support those organisations by offering discounts to their members.
